# Can time be tracked offline?

# Can time be tracked offline?

In Workstatus, a user can track time even if the timer is Offline. This is beneficial when there are internet connectivity outages. This way the WorkStatus time tracker stores the activity locally until the tools are back online and the data is preserved.

### QUESTION:

Can you track time offline with Workstatus?

### ANSWER:

In Order to login and start time for the first time in Workstatus Mobile/ desktop App - we need stable Internet connection.

As long as you are logged into the desktop app & Mobile app, you are able to track time without an internet connection. Workstatus will continue to store data on your computer. Once you are connected to the Internet again, all data should begin to upload to our servers.

Below is a sample screenshot of the app while tracking time offline.

**In Desktop**

**In Mobile**

Here we can see that while trying to stop timer>> face identification is being done and because internet is not restored, it gives the error

As soon as the app is able to detect an internet connection, it will eventually upload your recorded activities as shown here:

All data is stored locally on your machine indefinitely until it is uploaded to the server.

The offline mode should allow you to start Workstatus even if your network is offline (provided you have either logged in).
