# Support Guide: How to Force Upgrade the Workstatus App on Visible Ubuntu 22 and Ubuntu 24
### 1. Overview
This guide explains how to force upgrade the Workstatus desktop application on Ubuntu 22 from version **7.0 to version 8.0.0**. Follow the steps below to download and install the latest version and verify that the application is working correctly.
### 2. Prerequisites
Before starting the upgrade, ensure that the following requirements are met:
* Workstatus desktop app version **7.0** is installed on the system.
* The user is logged in to the Workstatus desktop application.
* The timer is **ON**.
* The user has the system password required for authentication.
### 3. Steps to Force Upgrade the Workstatus App
###### Step 1: Check for Updates
* Log in to the Workstatus desktop application.
* Ensure that the timer is **ON**.
* Click the **three-dot menu** in the application.
* Select **Check for Update**.
* Wait for the notification indicating that an update is available.
* Once the update is available, the **Update Now** option will appear under the Check for Update option.

###### Step 2: Start the Update
* Click **Update Now**.
* An update pop-up will appear.
* When the system authentication pop-up appears, enter your **Ubuntu system password** to authorize the update.
* Wait for the update process to complete.
* Open the Workstatus desktop app from the top bar.
* Once the update reaches **100%**, the **Restart App** button will appear.
* Click **Restart App**.

###### Step 3: Complete the Installation
* Open the application launcher on Ubuntu.
* Search for **Workstatus**.
* Open the Workstatus application.
* When the system authentication pop-up appears, enter your **Ubuntu system password**.
* A pop-up will appear indicating that the `setup.sh` file is being downloaded.
* Wait for the installation process to complete.
* The Workstatus login screen will appear.

###### Step 4: Log In to the Updated App
* Enter your Workstatus registered email address and password.
* Log in to the application.
* Verify that the updated application version **v8.0.0** is displayed at the bottom of the app.

* Select the appropriate project.
* Start the timer.
