# How to map a user's Machine ID in Workstatus

# How to map a user's Machine ID in Workstatus

###### Overview
The Machine ID identifies a user's during Workstatus app installation through MDM (**Microsoft Intune**). Mapping it to a Workstatus user account lets Workstatus associate that machine with the correct member automatically.

###### Before you start
* You have admin access to the Workstatus dashboard.
* The user already exists as a member in Workstatus.
* You have the Machine ID of the users.
### How to Get the User System Machine ID
Follow the steps below to find the **Machine ID (UUID)** of the user's Windows system.
###### Step 1: Open PowerShell
* On the user's Windows system, open **PowerShell**.
###### Step 2: Run the Command
Copy and run the following command in PowerShell:
* powershell -Command "Get-CimInstance Win32_ComputerSystemProduct | Select-Object -ExpandProperty UUID"

###### Step 3: Copy the Machine ID
The command will display the system's **UUID**.
Copy the displayed UUID/Machine ID and use it for the **Workstatus Machine ID mapping** process.
**Example:**
* XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX

|| Note: Make sure the command is executed directly on the user's Windows system whose Machine ID needs to be mapped.

###### Verify the mapping
* The member's row shows the saved Machine ID.
* After the Intune deployment, the user's Mac appears under the correct Workstatus account.
* To review earlier changes, open **Audit Logs** at the top right of the page.

###### Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
| ---- | ---- |
| Save icon is greyed out | Enter a Machine ID in the field first. The icon is active only when the field has a value. |
| Machine isn't linked after installation | Confirm the Machine ID matches the Mac exactly, with no extra spaces or typos, and that it is saved under the right member. |
| Member is missing from the list | Add the member under **Members & Roles** first, then return to this page. |
| Import fails | Use the downloaded sample file and keep its column layout unchanged. |
